Biography

Center for Technology and Management Education

A clear communicator, forward-thinking strategist, and high-energy facilitator, Tom Spitale has spent the past 25 years demystifying the keys to successful marketing strategies for his executive clients in the semiconductor, hi-tech, and medical product sectors. He guides some of the world's most respected organizations in their efforts to create a culture of marketing excellence. Mr. Spitale has led the strategic marketing executive programs for Caltech CTME for nearly a decade.

In addition to his client work as a partner at Impact Planning Group, he is also spearheading the firm's expansion of digital/virtual strategic consulting and education offerings.

Tom's specialty is in creating strategy tools that help inexperienced—"accidental"—marketers quickly gain proficiency, and which also help experienced practitioners enhance their critical thinking and build upon their past successes. In his book, The Accidental Marketer, he describes these tools while highlighting how they helped launch some of the most remarkable product achievements in recent business annals. Readers have lauded the book as a step-by-step guide for outperforming competitors.

Previously, Tom held senior strategic marketing roles at GE, Walmart, and the Peppers and Rogers Group, a leading international customer-experience consultancy. He received his degree in marketing with postgraduate studies in mathematics from the University of Akron.
