Biography
Aalto University School of Business
I produce new knowledge of how companies formulate and execute strategies. I draw insight from the cutting edge research conducted all over the world and my work with companies.
I pay special attention to the human-side of the process, with an emphasis on shared feelings and cognitive dynamics. I believe that the best strategies are formed when the rational and mechanical side, such as analyses, metrics and structure, are complemented with a proper awareness of the human side.
My researh has appeared in the leading international journals and I have won several best paper awards in the leading international conferences. Overall, I've produced over 50 written works.
An important part of my work happens with students, both at the university level and in companies. I do my best to help the present and next generation of business leaders to work more effectively and innovatively, while also contributing to the general well-being at the individual and societal levels.
I also like in-depth work with companies. I have done thorough academic case studies as well as consulting projects in several Finnish and international organizations. In addition to the direct benefits for the companies, this work is important because it allows me to continuously link theory to practice and ensure that my teaching remains grounded in the real world.
