Timea Potys

Timea is currently a Professional Latin Rising Star Finalist and Open Professional Latin finalist. She is the winner of multiple national and international Latin championships and she earned a salsa show dance champion title in 2003 in Europe. With her dance partner and husband Zsolt Katona, they ranked 19 in the International Latin World ranking in 2015 and the same year they placed 2nd in open professional rising star Latin in Taipei Asian Tour. She was rocking the floor and earning awards in more than 75 world cities in 17 countries, such as England, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong-Kong, Taiwan and China.

She was born in Hungary, and started as a gymnast at the age of 4, followed by several years of training in jazz dance, ballet, belly dance, acrobatic floor exercise, trampoline jumping and modern dance before she started the long journey into the Latin Ballroom dancing world with world class European coaches. She also had been playing a piano and performing for 15 years besides dancing.

Timea moved to the US at the end of 2008, and continued dance touring in the US, Europe and Asia since the present. Whenever she is here in the Bay Area, she is passionately sharing the love of dancing with everyone, and introducing its mental and physical health benefits and giving purposes to people!

In April 2017 she opened her beautiful European style ballroom studio; Sizzling Latin Dance Studio in Lafayette, Ca.

With her 15 years of dance teaching experience, she mainly coaches successful competitor couples from beginner level to the top. Her students not only place very well in competitions, they also see big improvements in qualities of life as a result of feeling whole from dancing.

She enjoys and available as a trainer for Pro/Am dance competitions as well in all dance styles.
