Rotman School of Management

Tim Leishman has been working with major law firms for more than 20 years, as a partner with management responsibilities in a leading Canadian firm and as a consultant since 1997 with more than a third of the Global 100 law firms.

Tim is a principal of Firm Leader Inc., which provides consulting and training services to law firms. Tim designs customized leadership development programs for partners in management roles, including practice group and client team leaders, as well as for partners who wish to make leadership contributions in their respective practices.

Tim has created advanced programs in business development, team leadership, and project management. Many of these programs have been developed using a research methodology that identifies the behaviours and preoccupations of outstanding performers in firms in order to accelerate the development of abilities in others.

Tim’s consulting expertise is in strategic planning, partner compensation, practice management structures and talent strategy, including recruiting and retention initiatives, career development systems, competency frameworks, and 360 degree feedback. Tim received his law degree from the University of Toronto.
