Biography
Tahra Millan is VP/Chief Marketing Officer at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts and an associate adjunct professor at Columbia Business School. As CMO, she is responsible for brand building, strategic marketing and communications, and organizational planning. Her work at Caramoor draws upon her two decades in arts management building audiences through strong brand experiences and serving as a change agent for the arts during the national events of September 11th and the Recession of 2008. As an educator and mentor to arts professionals, she has taught at Columbia Business School since 2009 and serves as a guest presenter for arts & entertainment throughout the U.S. Formerly the Sr. Director of Strategic Marketing for the corporate offices of Blue Man Group, a global live entertainment organization, Tahra developed Blue Man Group’s digital marketing and communications arm supporting Blue Man’s theatrical productions in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Orlando at Universal Orlando, Las Vegas, Tokyo and Berlin. Prior to Blue Man Group, she served as Director of Development and Marketing at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Working for a not-for-profit cultural arts organization, she oversaw federal, foundation, corporate and individual fundraising and managed strategic communications and marketing efforts. In partnership with the Downtown Alliance, Tahra developed the initial concept and proposal for Re: Construction, a downtown-based public art program coupling the visual arts with construction sites. Tahra began her career working for the Broadway industry. At the Broadway League, the national trade association for the commercial theatre industry, she spearheaded the industry’s first economic recovery campaign stemming from the events of September 11, 2001 and established the industry’s first multilingual website. She has worked on numerous major industry events including the American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards and Kids’ Night on Broadway.
Tahra also worked for an Omnicom-owned entertainment advertising agency, Serino Coyne, where she continued her work in developing industry-wide projects and sales promotions. She has presented her work at New York University, Columbia University, and national trade conferences. She earned her B.F.A. in Drama from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University and an M.A. from the Program in Arts Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University. While at Teachers College, she served as the Enid Morse Fellow focusing on education marketing and evaluation at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Tahra is a classically trained actor and Opera singer residing in Carmel, New York with her husband and two children.
