Susan Larrabee, LICSW began her social work career on the wards at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1986 prior to the hospital developing a coordinated approach to the HIV epidemic. She became the first HIV Social Worker in 1992 when a team was assembled. The clinic now serves over 800 people through a multidisciplinary approach. Ms. Larrabee has taught at Boston University School of Social Work, supervised social work residents completing their field placements, provided clinical education to some of the more than 85 hospital social workers and recently became a trainer in Motivational Interviewing. Her latest passion had her serving on a hospital team developing a comprehensive approach to treating people admitted with opioid addiction - the opening of a Suboxone Bridge Clinic in April 2018.
