Sulin Ba is a professor of Information Systems at the School of Business at the University of Connecticut and holds the Treibick Family Endowed Chair. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Her current research interests include the design of crowdsourcing platforms, online word-of-mouth, and digital health communities. Her work on the institutional setup to help small businesses grow in the digital economy has been used as the basis for testimony before the Congressional House Committee on Small Business. She has published in Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Production and Operations Management, Decision Support Systems, and other academic journals. She is a recipient of the prestigious Best Information Systems Publications Award (2011) (given by the Association for Information Systems and its Senior Scholars Consortium), Year 2000 MIS Quarterly Best Paper Award, UConn School of Business Research Excellence Award (2013), Best Paper Award (2009 and 2018), Undergraduate Teaching Award (2008), and Teaching Innovation Award (2007). She is a senior editor for Production and Operations Management and Decision Support Systems. She also works closely with the Hartford business community. Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for Launc[H], a public-private partnership driving the development of Hartford’s innovation ecosystem. From 2013 to 2019, she served as the School’s Associate Dean of Academic and Research Support. From 2014 to 2019, she also served as the Executive Director of Connecticut Information Technology Institute.
