Stefan Arend (1963), social manager, lecturer, project developer, consultant and publicist in Munich, has been one of the best-known and creative minds in the German care industry and senior citizens' economy for many years.

He completed training/traineeship as a daily newspaper editor and studied gerontology, management of social and health facilities in Kaiserslautern and Witten-Herdecke (MA) as well as history, linguistics, German and pedagogy in Marburg/Lahn. There he received his doctorate at the renowned research institute for the German language. phil.

Before founding his institute, Arend was a member of the board of KWA Kuratorium Wohnen im Alten in Unterhaching / Munich, a nationwide provider of senior citizens' facilities, from 2008 to 2020, and previously, from 1991 to 2008, sole managing director of the Mediana group of companies in Fulda, a regional one Provider of outpatient and inpatient care services.

He regularly publishes on socio-political and cultural-historical issues and is a speaker at national and international specialist events and congresses. In the specialist magazine Care Beton , he regularly highlights current developments in the social and care sector in his column ( This is how Arend sees it ).

Arend is a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), at the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) - Chair of Robotics and System Intelligence and at the Chair of Microtechnology and Medical Device Technology (MiMed).

He is also a member of the Central Advisory Board of the Bank for Social Economy BfS, Chairman of the Stakeholder Council of Korian Germany, a member of the Mission Committee of Clariane in Paris and a board member of the Care Venture Circle eV. He is involved in selected scientific associations and societies and has been a jury member for many years -Member for the awarding of the nursing home innovation prize (Vincentz-Verlag, Hanover).
