Srabashi Basu

Srabashi is an analytics expert and an academic administrator. She does extensive work in statistical applications in different areas like health analytics, complex data analytics, aviation industry, CRM etc. She has published research papers in many areas of statistics and is always eager to apply her skills in challenging areas including finance, retail, marketing and other areas. She also works as a Corporate Trainer in Business Analytics, Predictive Modeling, R and SAS and leverages her work experience to prepare business case studies. She has developed online course materials in Statistics, Business Analytics, R and SAS.

Research Interests

My inclination is towards applied statistical research, which I have been pursuing for close to two decades now. My doctoral thesis was on improving accuracy of a useful public health measure. Since then I have worked with epidemiologists and medical researchers both in the United States and in India.

My applied research is not at the cost of neglecting theoretical development. I have publications in Statistics in Medicine, Annals of The Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Sankhya and Statistica Sinica where publications with solid foundation in mathematical and empirical theory are only accepted.

I also have substantial experience in industrial research. I have provided service to one of the major airlines of the world and have spearheaded the development of a forecasting suite for passenger arrival and resource allocation in its 14 large stations. In my current position I am providing support to the second largest CRO in the drug development domain.

I have also undertaken various consulting problems in different domains, such as understanding viewer’s expectations for a major vernacular news channel, categorizing villages in two states of South India according to their risk potential for disbursement of loans on behalf of a micro-finance organization. I was also involved in a major effort of customer satisfaction review on behalf of one of the largest multinational corporation.

Overall I have a very wide variety of research interests and experiences and am a strong believer in adaptation and application of statistical techniques into varied domains. I consider myself an analytics expert and I enjoy working with all types of data.

She is involved in professional training and corporate coaching for more than a decade now. She is adept in developing course for short-term, long-term and regular classes as well as online learning. She is also an efficient academic administrator.
