Sophie S. Martin, JD, MBA, began working in communications at an age when most kids are mowing lawns for pocket money. Her first job involved answering the fan mail at Sesame Street, and since then she's directed marketing, promotions, social media, and public relations for a broad range of clients in entertainment, education, and nonprofit advocacy.

In Los Angeles, Sophie held the position of Marketing Director for Theatre LA, where she started the organization's wildly successful Theater Times advertising program in the Los Angeles Times. Past marketing clients also include The Princeton Review in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Repertory Company, and French & French Fine Properties in Santa Fe. With the Santa Fe-based EMPR, she placed media coverage for clients including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Art Institute, and The College of Santa Fe. In Albuquerque, Sophie has worked as the Director of Marketing & Operations for Madstone Theaters, the Marketing Director for the Ovation Series at Popejoy Hall, and Chief Marketing Officer for the UNM Anderson School of Management. She is the publisher of the Duke City Fix (www.dukecityfix.com), an Albuquerque-based cityblog, a past president of the New Mexico Advertising Federation, and a two-time honoree on the New Mexico Business Weekly's Forty Under 40 list.

Sophie has an MBA and a JD from the University of New Mexico and a BA in Theatre from Occidental College, and is currently in her final year at UNM's School of Law. She's earned specialized legal training in entertainment, marketing, and new media law at the University of New Hampshire School of Law and is the past Editor in Chief of the New Mexico Law Review.
