Biography

Dr. Solon Moreira joins Fox School of Business as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship. Previously, he worked as Assistant Professor at IESE Business School, where he designed and taught MBA, Executive, and In-Company courses, focusing on Corporate Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Strategy. He has also taught in countries across the globe, including the United States, Spain, Brazil, Denmark, United Kingdom, Cyprus, Colombia, and Pakistan.

Solon’s research focuses on the link between innovation and firm performance. He is particularly interested in understanding how established corporations collaborate with startups and how firms use external sources of knowledge to adjust to a changing technological landscape. Some of the R&D strategies he investigates include technology licensing, strategic alliances, and M&As.

His research has been published in leading journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Harvard Business Review, Industrial and Corporate Change, and the Best Paper Proceedings of the Academy of Management. He has also received various prizes, including the Fox School’s Excellence in Practice Research, Strategic Management Society Best Paper Finalist, and Best Paper Nominee for the European Academy of Management. Solon has presented his research at numerous international conferences.

Before joining academia, Solon was an entrepreneur and co-founded a trading company in Brazil. He has also been involved in research collaborations with multinational companies such as Royal Dutch Shell and Novo Nordisk.

Solon holds a Ph.D. in Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy from Copenhagen Business School and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Innovation, Strategy and Organization from the University of Cambridge.
