Simak Ali received the B.Sc. degree in biochemistry from Imperial College London, London, U.K., in 1985. He is currently a Professor of molecular endocrine oncology with the Division of Cancer, Imperial College London. For the Ph.D. degree, he investigated mechanisms of gene regulation in the developing, pregnancy and lactating mammary gland, received the Ph.D. degree in genetics from The Roslin Institute and University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, U.K., in 1989.

An EMBO long-term fellowship allowed him to undertake postdoctoral training with the Laboratory of Prof Pierre Chambon, LGME, Strasbourg, France, during 1989–1992. In 1992, he joined Charing Cross Medical School, London, U.K., where he started his own group, investigating mechanisms of estrogen receptor action in breast cancer, resistance to endocrine therapies and new therapeutic for the treatment of endocrine-resistance breast cancer.

He has authored or coauthored more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, was a Member of Scientific Committees and acts as a Senior Editor of the international journals, which include Oncogene, Journal of Endocrinology, and Journal of Molecular Endocrinology.
