Center for Creative Leadership
Shannon has a passion for understanding the development needs of leaders and the worlds in which they work. Her research work focuses primarily within 3 populations: senior executive leaders, senior women leaders, and attorneys. Her work with senior leaders has led to a better understanding of the behaviors that drive successful change and the traps that derail change efforts. Her work with one of CCL’s largest clients helped determine the levers to pull to attract and retain women in senior management roles. Her work with attorneys and attorney influenced cultures uncovered the similarities and differences between firm attorneys, in-house counsel and plaintiff’s attorneys. In her role as a trainer and facilitator, Shannon worked with clients in the legal and non-profit sectors. She trained over 200 employees at the Milton Hershey School as part of a large-scale culture change initiative.
Before becoming faculty, Shannon worked as an analyst with CCL’s Research and Innovation Group, where she led multiple projects and initiatives. She was the lead researcher on a project to study how organizations in South Africa are accelerating the development of leaders for senior roles. She managed the Ideas2Action project, which generates fresh ideas and identifies new trends from the thousands of leaders that attend CCL’s open enrollment programs each year. She explored new ways to respond to the unique demands of women in leadership roles, and uncovered insights to help leaders become more effective coaches and mentors.
Shannon also manages multiple partnerships with researchers at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, Claremont University, the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Located in Colorado Springs, Shannon earned her M.A. in Leadership Development and Organizational Communication from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs after earning her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She can be reached at bendixens@ccl.org
