Serafim Agrogiannis holds a BSc in Supply Chain Management, an MBA with specialization in Accounting & Auditing and an MSc in Project Management & Operational Development. His research interest is situated within the wider context of supply chains and relates to performance measurement & management of sustainability risks on strategic and operational levels. Furthermore, he is strongly concerned with low-carbon management and how it can potentially spur innovation towards a greener economy transition. Last but not least, he also focuses on the maritime sector and the implications emanating from energy management requirements and carbon compliance for the shipping industry. His priority revolves around coupling academic research with a strong practice oriented approach. He has been a visiting lecturer in the Master Programs of International Business as well as General Management teaching on CSR and Sustainable Supply Chain Management topics. Prior to joining SSE, Serafim was engaged in both the public and private sectors. He has eleven (11) years of working experience in the business areas of internal/external auditing in supply chain management and purchasing where he also dealt with the diffusion of sustainability issues within organizations and across the supply chain (e.g. supplier assessment & monitoring and collaborative approaches for facilitating knowledge transfer & application). In addition, he has been responsible for sustainability reporting according to the GRI guidelines and he has also experience from driving change and implementing environmental and health & safety management systems according to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 respectively. He has also participated in developing and institutionalizing sustainability criteria for public procurement on respective product categories.
