Dr. Geron is an Associate Professor of Social Welfare Policy and Research at Boston University School of Social Work, where he has been since 1992. Dr. Geron is CADER’s Director and Principal Investigator, and under his leadership, CADER has become a leading source of online training for practitioners across the country.
Dr. Geron has extensive experience in conducting program evaluations; applied policy research with the elderly, chronically mentally ill and other long-term care populations; and research studies. He also is an expert in development of consumer-based measures of service quality. From 1994 through 1997, he was Principal Investigator of a successful three-year National Institute on Aging study to develop a measure of client satisfaction for frail older adults who received home-based services. The Home Care Satisfaction Measure developed by Dr. Geron and his colleagues is now widely used by states and programs around the country, and has been adopted by the U.S. Administration on Aging as a key performance outcome measure. Dr. Geron has also studied and written extensively about care management and care coordination for older adults. He was part of a Robert Woods Johnson grant to establish standards for care management in long-term care.
