Ryan Weldzius

Ryan Weldzius is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Villanova University. In his book project, The Chains That Bind: Economic Interdependence and Currency Conflict, Dr. Weldzius argues that the transformations in trade and production networks since the 1990s have altered how, and if, currency conflicts arise. The book provides a political explanation for the recent disappearance of currency manipulation as a strategy for export-led growth, and suggests a return to currency conflict if advanced economies re-shore supply chains in response to the global pandemic.
