Rolf D. Cremer is Head of Global Bridges China Forum, Germany and Dean Emeritus of CEIBS.

He was born in Germany, and received his MSc in Industrial Engineering (1974), and his PhD in Economics (1978) at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.

His experience in China and Asia spans almost 30 years, beginning at Tongji University, Shanghai (1982). In 1983 he joined the University of Macau, where he was Professor of Economics, Dean of Social Sciences, and founding Director of the China Economic Research Centre. In 1992, he joined Massey University, New Zealand, as Head of Economics, and Pro Vice-Chancellor until 2002. From 2000 to 2003, he was the International President at the East China Institute of Technology. He returned full-time to China in January 2003, as Professor of Economics, and from 2004 - 2011 Dean and Vice-President of CEIBS. He is also a Distinguished Professor of Nanchang University, Jiangxi, and Honorary Professor at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. In 2008, he received an Honorary Doctorate from the European Business School, Wiesbaden. He is also the recipient of the Magnolia Award of the Shanghai Municipality for outstanding contributions to China in the field of higher education.

Professor Cremer’s research interests cover a wide range, from econometrics and forecasting, via macroeconomic theory and policy to the economics of industrial development, and international education management. He has authored ten books and some fifty scholarly publications in leading academic journals. He has been a member of several boards in the private and public sector. He has been and continues to be a member of leading institutional organisations and boards shaping the future of management education.
