Richard Chan’s research domain is broadly situated at the intersection of psychology, technology, and entrepreneurial finance. Specifically, he investigates how actors' cognitive processes, shaped by individual differences and altered by social and ambient environments, influence the evaluations of entrepreneurial opportunities. His work has appeared in the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Venture Capital, and Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings and mentioned by media. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Business Venturing and Journal of Management.
