Biography
Rashpal (Rashi) is a Chartered Psychologist (BPS) and joined Birkbeck’s Department of Organisational Psychology in the spring of 2021. She earned her PhD in Organizational Behaviour and Employment Relations from the London School of Economics, and prior to joining Birkbeck, worked at the University of Surrey. Before commencing her PhD, she worked in consulting, specialising in coaching (career transition, challenging interactions/issues, well-being), psychometric assessment and survey analysis. Her training in psychology and organisational behaviour underpins her research, teaching as well as ongoing work in coaching and consulting.
Rashpal conducts research into how individuals manage challenging issues that can have a major impact on their lives both at work, and outside it. This includes studies of individuals who have been mistreated at work, those who are faced with inequality and individuals who are witness to traumatic societal events (such as terror attacks). She has a particular interest in individual adjustment in the face of adversity, include processes around healing, care and growth. Most of her work utilises a mixed methods design.
Rashpal continues to undertake commissioned research and consulting projects. She has recently completed research for the NHS on the protected characteristics.
