Biography

Raghu Betina, Clinical Assistant Professor of Operations Management and Entrepreneurship, teaches Application Development. Previously, he was Managing Partner at The Starter League in Chicago, specializing in beginner-focused programming education.

Prior to that, Betina was an entrepreneur and an investor in southern India. He built and managed technology companies, but only with great difficulty due to a lack of technical skills. He returned to the US to learn how to develop applications himself, and (after some false starts) discovered that — with the right approach — it is possible for non-programmers to become productive quickly.

He’s been dedicated to teaching programming inclusively, using that approach, ever since. You can read more about the MBA-specific programming course he designed in Chicago Booth Magazine, or watch a talk he gave about his own winding path to programming here.
