Biography

He has been buying, judging, tasting and collecting wine and spirits for almost 50 years. Prof. Hoffman was founder of a number of import (Primarily European) wine buying and investment syndicates in the early 1970's. Each of the syndicates experienced returns of over 300% (Generally, Annual ROI's exceeded 180%). He was a buyer's representative/bidder at each of The Heublein Premiere National Auctions of Rare Wines from 1970 to 1979, primarily purchasing Red Bordeaux and Chateau d'Yquem Lots. Awarded a Research Fellowship after completing the PhD field in Real Estate Appraisal at UCLA, He supplemented his training as a Sr Consulting Manager of a Big Eight CPA firm and later Corporate and Regional VP for two prominent NYSE investment firms, Prof. Hoffman has applied his financial and renegotiating skills to wide range of valuation, fairness opinions, business and RE appraisals, due diligence and purchase/sale engagements of wineries, distributors, and vineyards.

Specialties: He is recognized for his expert knowledge of both French and California Bordeaux varietal wines. His expertise extends to the Rhone, Champagne, Alsace, and Burgundy regions, Most all California Counties, Northern Italian Reds,and Iberian Desert wines having collected, tasted and lectured on these wines for five decades
