Background

Priyank Arora is an assistant professor of management science at the Moore School. Priyank is interested in advancing the understanding of operational decision-making within and across organizations that are motivated by social and environmental considerations (such as, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals). Currently, Priyank’s research on socially responsible operations is defined around two streams: nonprofit operations and sustainability. His research has strong underpinnings in interactions with nonprofits (e.g., those empowering domestic violence survivors and homeless individuals), government organizations (e.g., those administering organ transplantation and child care subsidy programs), and social enterprises (e.g., farm equipment sharing platforms in emerging economies). His research has been published in journals such as Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Journal of Operations Management.

Previously, Priyank was an assistant professor of operations management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Priyank holds a PhD in business administration from Georgia Institute of Technology, a post-graduate certificate in management (equivalent to an MBA) from the Indian School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Delhi. Prior to an academic career, he worked as a senior software engineer at Samsung Electronics.
