Biography

Philippe Baecke is an Assistant Professor at Vlerick Business School. He holds a Master degree in Applied Economics, an Advanced Master degree in Marketing Analysis and is also Doctor in Applied Economics (Ghent University). He is programme director of two executive programmes at Vlerick Business School: Creating Business Value with Big Data & Data Driven Marketing. Philippe is also visiting lecturer at University of Namur and UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business (Dublin, Ireland). His research interest mainly lies at Customer Relationship Management, Business analytics and Big Data. More specifically he focuses on improving analytical CRM models by creatively incorporating new data types, such as geographical and social network information. Further he also has a strong interest in digital and Omni channel marketing. His research has been published in several peer reviewed journals such as International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making, Journal of Intelligent Information Systems and Expert Systems with Applications. His research is also recognized in the business world, which is reflected in both the SAS Student Ambassador Award and the Best Paper Award which he received at SAS Global Forum in 2012 (Orlando, U.S.). Over the past years he has customised business research projects for companies such as KBC, Dunnhumby/Tesco (London), Bisnode, BIG, Mobile Vikings, Sanoma, etc

Philippe Baecke has a strong expertise in big data analytics. In his research he finds creative ways to integrate data – including browsing, text, geographical and social network data. This can then be applied in marketing, operations and finance. His research also features ad targeting and measurement – and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

At Vlerick, Philippe teaches on our Masters and Online MBA programmes. And he’s the Programme Director of our Masters in Marketing & Digital Transformation, as well as two executive programmes.

Over the years, he has assisted several companies with their data and analytics strategy and projects, at both strategic and operational levels. These include KBC, ING, Ageas, Telenet, Mobile Vikings, Dunnhumby/Tesco (London), Bisnode, BIG, and Sanoma.
