International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans

A consulting actuary for more than 35 years, Peter Hayes presently serves as trustee and board co-chair for the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) Jointly Sponsored Pension Plan, as an advisory board member to defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans in Canada’s manufacturing sector, and as a member of the International Foundation’s Canadian Board and Canadian Strategic and Program Planning Committee. In addition, he is a member of UPEI’s board of governors and of the advisory committee to the university’s School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences. Previously Hayes was a principal in the Halifax office of Eckler Ltd., where his primary focus was on the design, funding and investment of large-scale institutional programs in the pension and workers’ compensation fields. He is a past member of the International Foundation’s Canadian Investment/Corporate Committee and the Canadian Trustees Education Committee (Ad Hoc) and has served as a member of the National Board of the Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute as well as numerous professional committees of the Society of Actuaries. Hayes is a frequent speaker at professional and industry conferences, including several International Foundation conferences, and is a regular instructor for the Foundations of Trust Management Standards (FTMS®) course. He is a graduate of Dalhousie University and a fellow of both the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA).
