Peter A. DeLisle is the Professor and Leslie B. Crane Chair of Leadership Studies and Director of The Posey Leadership Institute at Austin College.

Professor DeLisle’s background in education includes award-winning teaching in commerce, education and engineering. He held the William B. Severns Chair in Human Behavior in the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana and is a member of the executive education faculty at the University of Notre Dame. He was a Program Manager for the Center for Creative Leadership.

DeLisle’s industry experience includes executive leadership for human resources at Hewlett-Packard Company and Convex Computer of Richardson. He has helped found three successful companies and acted as an advisor, consultant and teacher of leaders in more than two hundred companies and communities over the last 30 years.

He has served as resource and advisor to the American Institute of Architects, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology; the E.M. Kauffman Foundation for Entrepreneurial Leadership; the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Governor’s Executive Leadership Program. He served as a Trustee of the Robert K. Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership. He is an Allied Individual Member of the American Institute of Architects. His recent writing and contributions include, The Architect as Leader in the Handbook for Professional Practice (15th edition, 2013), AIA; Leadership in Collaborative Architectural Practice, AIA and The University of Utah School of Architecture and Design; and Leadership Effectiveness, an on-line program hosted by aecKnowledge.

DeLisle served in the United States Army as a captain of field artillery and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He was the distinguished military graduate of the University of Connecticut in 1971.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in human resource development leadership and Phi Kappa Phi from the College of Education at the University of Texas in Austin.

DeLisle is married for 40 years to Janice Braem DeLisle, a teacher, leader and public school specialist for gifted and talented.
