Biography

Kenan-Flagler Business School

Perry Genova is  interested in exploring the trajectories of startup companies from inception to exit and does not limit this exploration to successful companies.

He teaches healthcare entrepreneurship at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

His industry experience includes starting four life-science companies in diverse areas such as drug-device combination inhalation products, surgical suture products, oncology diagnostics and neurosurgical intervention devices.

He is developing a company to commercialize a robotic device for neurosurgery.

Dr. Genova successfully exited two of his earliest companies and managed his first company into a second exit with a large multinational. He has held high-level executive positions with Glaxo and Kos Pharmaceuticals, as well as with GlaxoSmithKline in France.

When Dr. Genova is not building businesses and exploring the process with other interested parties, he is building vintage BMW race cars and competing in endurance motor racing events to raise money and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

He received his PhD and MS in biomedical engineering from UNC-Chapel Hill and a BS in electrical engineering from UNC-Charlotte.
