Biography

I am an ethnographer with a PhD in Sociology. I’m widely interested in economic sociology, urban studies, technology, ethnography and experimenting with qualitative research methods. I’ve conducted ethnographic research on street food markets, placemaking, atmospheres, commercial districts and tourism with projects in London, Santiago de Chile and Huaraz (Perú). I have previous research experience in digital communication practices and their connection with urban space, working in policy for the Chilean government and as an independent researcher. I’m currently working at the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and the Centre for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES).

PhD en Sociología (LSE) y Antropóloga Social (U. de Chile), con un Máster en Cultura y Sociedad (LSE). Tengo un interés amplio por la sociología económica, los estudios urbanos, la tecnología, la etnografia y la experimentación con métodos de investigación cualitativa. He realizado investigación etnográfica acerca de los mercados de comida callejera, placemaking, atmósferas, barrios comerciales y en turismo con proyectos en Londres, Santiago de Chile y Huaraz (Perú). Además, tengo 5 años de experiencia trabajando en proyectos de TIC para el Desarrollo en el Gobierno de Chile y en investigación y consultoría de manera independiente. Actualmente me desempeño como académica e investigadora en el Instituto de Estudios Urbanos y Territoriales (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) y el Centro de Estudios de Conflicto y Cohesión Social (COES).
