Parul Gupta

Parul Gupta is a faculty of law at the Management Development Institute (MDI),Gurgaon in India. She has been teaching law courses to management students for the last 15years. Before joining MDI, she served at the Army Institute of Management & Technology, Greater Noida, for more than a decade. Her special expertise lies in labor law, business law, and environmental law. She is a visiting faculty of various Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi, and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), delivering courses on business and corporate laws, and employment law. She has been the program director and trainer of a management training program for the judicial officers of the state of Uttar Pradesh and for court managers, training more than 1,000 judicial officers within a span of three years. In 2012, she was awarded the prestigious Vice Chief’s Commendation Card by the Western Command of the Indian Army for her significant contribution to the growth of the institute and commitment to work. Dr. Gupta has also imparted training to executives of various public sector units, such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). She has authored three books and a number of case studies. Her research interest lies in corporate environmental responsibility, social entrepreneurship, public policy, and corporate governance. Dr. Gupta writes regularly in journals of repute and has written a number of research articles in various journals of international repute.

Dr. Parul Gupta holds a Doctorate and Master's degree in law, with having specialization in Corporate Law. She earned a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Law - Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi in the year 2010. Her expertise lies in Business & Corporate Law, Contract Management, Labour Laws, Ethics in Public Service, and E-government. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious "GOC-in-C, Commendation Card" by the Army Commander - Western command.

Teaching

Dr. Gupta delivers courses on Business and corporate law, Legal aspects of business, Employment Law, Ethics in public service, the Companies Act, 2013, and the Legal position of Directors and Independent Directors in a company. Dr. Gupta is invited as visiting faculty to deliver courses and training sessions on legal aspects of business, contract management, industrial relations, and labour laws by numerous prestigious business schools such as; DMS-IIT, Delhi, IIFT, IMI, different IIMs, to name a few.

Research

Parul is a seasoned researcher. Her research interest lies in the implications of law and policy for social enterprises, entrepreneurs, advertisers and marketers, employers and managers, and interdisciplinary management issues requiring interventions of law and policy. She has published more than 20 scholarly research papers in the last 5 years in the SCPUS indexed high impact Journals including, Journal of world business, journal of business research, International Business Review (IBR), Australian Journal of Marketing, Public Administration Quarterly, International Journal of Emerging Markets, etc. She has to her credit more than 10 teaching case studies published by case publishing houses including; Ivey Publishing, Sage Business cases, etc. She authored four textbooks titled "Industrial Relations and Labour Laws", "Legal Aspects of Business: Concepts and Application", "Export-Import Management" and “Business Environment & Policy”.

Training

In the recent past, Dr. Gupta conducted several training programs for various public sector enterprises and private firms like IOCL, BHEL, NTPC, and MSIL to name a few. Parul has been the program director of the various prestigious management development program of MDI Gurgaon including, a Training program for independent directors, a Business management program for the officers of the Armed forces, Collaborated training program with HPTI, Gurgaon, etc. She has developed a very well sought-after customized training program for vigilance officers of IOCL named "Prakhar". In 2019, She designed and successfully conducted an International Anti-corruption workshop for the Chief Vigilance Officers of Public Sector Undertakings in collaboration with Hertie School of Public Policy, Berlin, and Partnership for Transparency Funds, USA.
