Biography

Crawford School of Public Policy

Dr Nitin Gupta is a Defence Economist at the Australian Army Research Centre and the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Coral Bell School, ANU. Prior to this, he has worked as a Senior Economist at the Australian Parliamentary Library, and as Executive Manager for the Australia’s Comparative Advantage project, which delivered a major report on Australia’s strategic strengths and weaknesses to the Commonwealth Science Council.

Nitin gained his PhD in Economics from the Australian National University. His doctoral thesis analysed India’s post-reform industrial performance. During his career, he has worked in the academic, corporate, public and NGO sectors across multiple countries.
