Nik Hasyudeen

I was the founding board member of the Audit Oversight Board (AOB), which supervises auditors of public interest entities in Malaysia when I was appointed as the Executive Chairman in 2010. In addition to this role, I was also the Executive Director of the Securities Commission Malaysia in charge of Market and Corporate Supervision.

Before entering the regulatory arena, I was the Executive Chairman of Khairuddin, Hasyudeen & Razi, (KHR) a public accounting practice founded based on a merger in 1998 of three public accounting practices including my own firm which was established in 1992. I left KHR in 2006 to be involved in strategy advisory before being joining the AOB.

I was involved in the accountancy profession when I was elected to the Council of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants in 2000. I then became the President of MIA from 2007 until 2009. I was also the Vice-President of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (2008-2009) and a member of the Public Practice Advisory Committee of CPA Australia (2004-2010).

For my contribution towards the accountancy profession in ASEAN I was awarded CPA Australia's President Award for Excellence in Service and Leadership (2010). In 2013 I chaired the Committee to Strengthen the Accountancy Profession which reported to the Minister of Finance on measures to enhance the contribution of the Malaysian accountancy profession towards nation building in 2015.
