Biography
Prior to beginning my PhD, I worked as a researcher and campaigner for a number of NGOs; specifically focused on social and environmental problems within global supply chains. Through my experiences, I became ever more interested in the usages and limitations of both private governance as well as public regulations in addressing social problems in the global South. My doctoral research therefore chose to examine the rise of private governance in developing countries, and compares and contrasts the development of multi-stakeholder initiatives in Southern markets in relation to Northern market standards. In particular, I focus on how such initiatives were shaped, contested and negotiated, as well as the extent to which they improve governance (or not).
I am currently supervised by Professor Khalid Nadvi and Professor Stephanie Barrientos at the Global Development Institute.
Qualifications
Alongside my academic qualifications, I have also been recognised as a Teaching Fellow at the Higher Education Academy.
