Biography

I graduated from my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biology at Newcastle University in 2014 after completing my dissertation focussed on the behavioural measurement of the contrast sensitivity in praying mantids. After completeing a summer internship researching partial occlusion of vision in praying mantids, I then went on to complete an MRes in Neuroscience at Newcastle University. My research project was entitled ''From White Matter to Function; A Study in Lewy Body Dementia'' and involved using DTI with varying types of dementia patients and aged controls in order to determine white matter differences between dementias and the influence of vascular burden in these dementias.

I am currently a PhD student at the University of Manchester in the Neuroscience and Aphasia Unit working on using Anatomical Connectivity Mapping to analyse white matter pathways in post-stroke aphasia patients as well as within temporal lobe epilepsy surgery. This industrial CASE studentship is funded and supported by the MRC and Bioxydyn.
