Biography

SDA Bocconi School of Management

Monica Otto is a Lecturer at the Department of Social and Political Sciences at Università Bocconi.

At SDA Bocconi, she was the Director of the Master in Public Management (2010-2013) and of the Executive Master of Management in International Organizations (2015-2016). She coordinates the Pharmaceutical Observatory at CERGAS, the course in pharmaceutical policy in the Master in Mangement per la Sanità (MIMS), and the Specialization in Pharmaceuticals and Medical Technologies of the Master in Healthcare, Management, Economics and Policy (MIHMEP). She carries out research and education projects with pharmaceutical companies and associations on topics concerning pharmaceutical policy and management, and market access. Since 2018, she has been the Director of Executive Education in Health, Government and Non Profit.

Her research activities focus on economics, policies and the pharmaceutical care and management systems in the field of biotechnology, comparative business and government relations.

She is the author of numerous essays and papers on her topics of research and interests. Her works have been published in international journals, such as Frontiers in Pharmacology, Clinical Therapeutics, Health Policy, the Journal of Medical Marketing, The European Journal of Health Economics as well as national journals, such as Economia & Management, Mecosan, Numeri e Indici dell’Automedicazione, and Economia e Politica del Farmaco, among others. She published a a case study in the Case Center concerning the partnership for development between Ikea and Unicef. She has held seminars at the European University of Market Access (Emaud) in Paris.She was a Visiting Student and Researcher at the Health Care Management Department (WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Systems Research and Management) at Technische Universität in Berlin. She has presented her own papers at AIES, ISPOR and EHMA conferences.

Monica earned a degree in Public Administration and International Institutions Management (CLAPI) and a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Management both from Università Bocconi.
