AlHilou is a member of the Academic Council at Liverpool John Moores University, the main academic body at the university, and oversees the overall planning, coordination, development, and supervision of the university’s academic work, and overseeing the four basic objectives of the strategic plan. The Academic Council is accountable to the Vice President, CEO, and Board of Governors for providing guidance, advice, and emphasizing the effectiveness of academic governance.

Additionally, AlHilou is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management at Liverpool Business School.
