Biography

Alain Mikol is a Professor in the Financial, Reporting and Audit department at ESCP Europe Paris campus. A graduate of ESCP and EPHESS, he began his career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers where he worked for 7 years, resigning with the position of technical manager. He then entered academia, taking his Ph.D. in management and DHDR (post-doctoral degree).
His main research interests and teaching are linked to his professional experience: statutory audit, financial auditing standards, ethical standards of the auditor, but also financial accounting and consolidation (IFRS).
Professor Mikol is active in professional institutes. He is the representative of two French institutes of chartered accountants at the International Federation of Accountants and European Federation of Accountants. He is also a representative at the ministry of Education Nationale in France. He has been Secretary General of the French Accounting Association and is a regular member of scientific committees of congresses dedicated to financial audit or to financial accountancy.
In 30 years of research activities, Alain Mikol has published 17 books (among them, one in the renowned French collection «&nbsp - Que sais-je ?&nbsp - » , currently in its 9th edition). He has also produced some twenty scientific communications.
With a strong interest in the pedagogy of basic disciplines, he created an introductory financial accountancy seminar for senior executives in 1983 which he leads to this day.
Former Champion of France of modern decathlon, and active in community life, he has been General Treasurer of the Racing Club of France, the only club in the world to have earned 94 Olympic medals.
