Mickey Northcutt is a professor at BU’s Metropolitan College.

He serves as the Executive Director of the North Shore CDC, a regional community development organization based in Salem, Massachusetts. The founding Director of North Shore CDC, Northcutt led a merger of two community-based organizations in 2010 to create one of the largest community development organizations in Massachusetts. Amongst the North Shore CDC’s projects directly overseen by Northcutt was the Cabot Street Homes development, a transit-oriented development in Beverly, Massachusetts which was the first low-rise, multi-family, affordable development in Massachusetts to be certified as LEED-Platinum by the U.S. Green Building Council. His professional interests are in innovative solutions to affordable housing development, urban design, neighborhood planning and change, non-profit leadership and sustainability.

He began his career in housing in low-income housing property management and asset management. He serves on the Boards of Directors of North Shore Community Action Programs, Inc., the North Shore Workforce Investment Board and the Salem Bar Association and is actively involved with the American Bar Association’s Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development.

Awards include:

  • Named as one of the “North Shore 100” by the Salem Evening News, honoring the 100 most influential people in the North of Boston region, 2010.
  • Recipient of the “Rising Star Award” by the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations, 2010.
