Biography
MIT CTL: MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics
Dr. Michele Simoni is a postdoctoral associate at the Megacity Logistics Lab. Michele’s main research activity is currently focused on modeling and optimization of advanced solutions for last mile freight distribution based on the most recent communication and automation technologies.
His background is interdisciplinary in nature and combines transportation modeling, logistics, and traffic flow theory to develop efficient and sustainable urban transportation systems. Michele’s work has been published in transportation journals, such as Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies and Transportmetrica B: Transport Dynamics.
Michele received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed a related M.Sc. degree at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands), where he also worked as a researcher at the Department of Transport and Planning.
