Biography
Bruce Wardhaugh joined the School of Law at the University of Manchester in January 2015 as a Senior Lecturer in Competition Law. Prior to that he was a Lecturer at The Queen''s University Belfast (2012-2015) and the Newcastle University (2011 - 2012).
He holds his LLB (JD) and PhD degrees from the University of Toronto, and an LLM from the University of Amsterdam. Prior to begining an academic career in law, Bruce practiced in British Columbia (Canada) for a number of years.
Bruce''s research interests are in Competition law (in particular EU and US), WTO law and law and economics. He has written extensively on the competition issues surrounding collusion. His monograph, Cartels, Markets and Crime: A Normative Justification for the Criminalisation of Economic Collusion was published by Cambridge University Press in 2014. In addition to this, he has published numerous articles in scholarly journals, and is a UK news correspondent in regard to matters condicted by the Competition and Markets Authoity for the European Competition Law Review. He also contributes regularly to academic conferences. In September 2013, his paper "Bogeymen, Lunatics and Fanatics: Collective Actions and the Private Enforcement of European Competition Law" won the Best Paper Prize at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Legal Scholars. It was later published in Legal Studies.
