Biography

Michael is a Ph. D. researcher, a college/university instructor, a public speaker, and an executive. In 2022 he retired from the role of President at Alwington Communities, a condominium management firm in Ontario that he founded, grew, and subsequently exited. He first started his real estate career at Varsity Properties almost a decade ago, where he grew from managing a single student housing community to leading operations across the entire firm.
After taking a post-retirement period to rest and refresh, Michael’s plans for the future include industry as a researcher and advisor, continuing his research at Carleton University, teaching real estate and development courses at Queen’s University, and dipping his toes into industry where there are interesting challenges to solve.
Michael’s Story
Michael was born to refugees who settled in Canada in the 1980s. Fleeing the repression of a communist state, and in search of opportunity, his parents were sponsored by other former-refugees and invited to build their lives in Canada.
