Michael Posthumus

Adj. Assoc. Prof. Mike Posthumus is a sports scientist, sports performance consultant and coach. Mike holds a PhD in Exercise Science from the University of Cape Town (UCT), and is currently an adjunct Assoc Prof within the division of physiological sciences at UCT. Mike has published more than 65 Peer Reviewed Scientific Manuscripts and has a H-Index of 29 He had gained experience in executive management and leadership within the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. Mike is also a director of Science to Sport, a company offering scientific coaching and services to cyclists of all levels, and the managing director of Cadence Nutrition. Mike has has always had a passion for the science of training and conditioning and translating the science of training. As a coach, he has a passion for working with like-minded, hard working athletes who are striving to be their best. Mike has coached several athletes to national championship wins as well as Cape Epic leader’s jerseys. In addition, Mike is a mentor to the Science to Sport associate and accredited coaches. As an athlete, he has always been highly competitive. He played provincial rugby and is now an extremely competitive mountain biker, having won several top ultra-endurance mountain bike races.
