Biography
Michael Miller joined the Goizueta Business School in 2014. He previously taught full time in the College of Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston and at the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University.
Prior to his career in academia, Professor Miller spent over twenty-five years in industry. He started his career working for a manufacturing firm, transitioned into manufacturing consulting and then joined Fidelity Investments as Director of Management Sciences for the inbound phone operations. He resigned his position at Fidelity to attend MIT where he obtained his Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Sloan School of Management. While a student at MIT Professor Miller took on projects as an independent consultant, work he continued after completing his Ph.D.
As an independent consultant Professor Miller provided economic and operational consulting services for financial services, manufacturing, and logistics firms. He completed a wide range of projects involving portfolio optimization, asset allocation, customer segmentation and customer relationship management, optimal call routing and skills based routing, sales forecasting and process improvement and modeling.
While an independent consultant Professor Miller also taught one course a semester as an adjunct lecturer at various schools in the Boston area. For most of this time he taught Statistics and Econometrics in the Economics Department at Tufts University and he also taught Decision Analysis and Simulation at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and Market Research at the Sawyer Business School.
