International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans
Michael C.P. McCreary is the author of numerous labour and benefits law–related articles. He is a frequent speaker on issues involving trustee obligations and an instructor of the legal component of the Foundations of Trust Management Standards (FTMS®) program for the International Foundation. For 33 years, before retiring from Watson Jacobs McCreary LLP, McCreary worked out of his firm’s Toronto office as a labour lawyer representing the interests of trade unions. He has also been counsel to a number of multi-employer pension and employee life and health trust funds. In addition, McCreary was a trustee of a multi-employer pension plan in Ontario. While practicing law, he was one of only a handful of labour lawyers to simultaneously hold the distinction of being designated by Best Lawyers, Lexpert and the Law Society of Ontario as a recommended labour lawyer and recognized specialist in labour law. McCreary retired from Watson Jacobs McCreary LLP on March 1, 2023 and will commence working as a Labour Arbitrator on June 1, 2023.
