Adjunct Associate Professor of Management and Organizations


Michael L. Mazzarese joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in 1997, became a Visiting Associate Professor in September 2008 and a Clinical Associate Professor of Management and Organizations in September 2009. He teaches courses in leadership in organizations, managerial skills, managing change and management and organization analysis. He also serves as an executive coach for Executive M.B.A. students.

Professor Mazzarese's primary areas of interest include the practical application of management skills, managing and leading change, leadership development and executive coaching. He has written a column called "Executive Soap Box" and authored the chapter entitled, "The Human Resources Manager," in the American Management Association's Human Resources Management & Development Handbook.

Prior to establishing his own executive coaching practice, Professor Mazzarese was the corporate vice president of leadership and professional development and Chief Learning Officer for the Hoechst Celanese Corporation. He has had extensive corporate experience throughout North America, Asia and Europe as a member of the executive teams at AT&T, Dun & Bradstreet, The Equitable Life Assurance Society and Johnson & Johnson. Additionally, he was a vice president of academic affairs and professor of management at Berkeley College. He has also held academic appointments at Fordham University, The City University of New York, Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wagner College, St. John's University and the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines. In addition, he spoke at the 2011 Forte Conference at NYU on, "The Challenge of Change."

Professor Mazzarese received his A.B. degree in Philosophy from St. Joseph's Seminary and College, his M.S. and Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from the City University of New York, and his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from Fordham University, with a specialty in adult learning, conceptual level and workplace applications.
