Michael Gollschewski re-joined Alcoa as Vice President mining operations in July 2018 with accountability for Alcoa’s Bauxite mines in Western Australia and Brazil. His responsibilities also include operational oversight of Alcoa’s Joint Venture mines in Brazil, Guinea and Saudi Arabia. In his previous time with Alcoa, between 1992 and 2007, he worked in operational and project management roles in their Alumina refining business.

Prior to re-joining Alcoa, Michael has held a wide range of engineering, management and project roles with CSR, Queensland Alumina and Rio Tinto. Most recently he was at Rio Tinto between 2007 and 2018 where he was the managing director Pilbara Mines for the last 5 years, after heading up Rio Tinto’s expansion of their Pilbara Iron Ore business.

Michael graduated from the Queensland Institute of Technology with honours in Mechanical Engineering and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Curtin University, Perth.
