CBS Executive

Merle Jacob is Professor in Research Policy at Lund University and the UNESCO Chair in Research Management and Innovation Systems. She is currently Director of the Research Policy Institute at Lund University. Merle has previously been Director of the Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture at the University of Oslo (09/2006-08/2010) and Professor at the Copenhagen Business School. Professor Jacob’s research specialisation is the relationship between science and policy. Her two specific areas of empirical focus are the management of universities and national research systems. She has published extensively in both areas and is especially interested in the governance of higher education and research and the challenges posed to governance by globalisation and the integration of innovation into the mission of university.

As part of her Fellowship, Merle Jacob is working on the project Global governance and national science and innovation policy with Dietmar Braun and Niilo Kaupi.
