Mathias Boënne

Mathias Boënne is assistant professor at Utrecht University, School of Economics, in the Section of Entrepreneurship. He holds a PhD in Business Economics, obtained at KU Leuven and Vlerick Business School (Belgium) where he conducted research on the use and design of idea contests to fuel their innovation processes. Beforehand, he obtained an MSc degree in Business Economics at the KU Leuven.

Before joining Utrecht University as professor, Mathias held affiliations to the University of Amsterdam and Erasmus University Rotterdam where he conducted embedded research on creative development processes in a multimedia company. Besides, Mathias is research associate at the University of Bath, School of Management (UK) and a research fellow and online MBA tutor at Vlerick Business School.

Mathias is considerably interested in creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation practices in organisations. His research and teaching focuses on intrapreneurship, idea generation and development, organizational creativity, crowdsourcing, innovation strategy and mixed method research.

He regularly presents his research at acclaimed academic conferences (Academy of Management, DRUID, Innovation and Product Development Conference, Research on Entrepreneurship Conference,...).
