Biography
Harvard Kennedy School
Adjunct Professor of Public Policy, teaches courses on comparative health policy, focusing on Western Europe; inequalities in health care; and gender and health. Her publications include The State and Working Women: A Comparison of Britain and Sweden; Realignments in the Welfare State: Health Policy in the U.S., Britain and Canada; and Marginal to Mainstream: Alternative Medicine in America; as well as numerous articles related to these subjects. Ruggie has a PhD in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. She has taught at Barnard College, the University of California, San Diego, and Columbia University, where she chaired the Sociology Department.
