Kelley School of Business
He has crisscrossed the media and entrepreneurship spectrum throughout his journalism and business career, working in newspapers, television, radio, public relations and as a media business owner. His work as a reporter for Cincinnati’s NBC affiliate, WLWT, earned him an Emmy in addition to awards for excellence he received while working at Indiana newspapers and radio stations.
Pieratt’s work has included coverage of the World Series, the Super Bowl, the NCAA Basketball Championship and the Pete Rose baseball betting scandal. He reported extensively on the nation’s worst DUI-related accident, the 9/11 terrorism attacks and their aftermath for both print and broadcast media, and reported from one of the worst prison riots in U.S. history.
Pieratt has owned and operated seven radio stations and other franchises and businesses. He has worked as a columnist for the Cincinnati Post and several southern Indiana weekly newspapers, and he worked on a congressional campaign and in college public relations.
His stories have appeared on both CNN and NBC. His third book, First Black Red: The Story of Cincinnati’s First African-American Baseball Player, Chuck Harmon, was published in 2010.
He currently teaches full time in the Management and Entrepreneurial Department at the Kelley School of Business. He also currently serves as a business consultant to major Indiana corporations.
