Martin Glaum holds the Chair of International Accounting at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. Since 2016, he is also a Visiting Professor at Toulouse School of Management. Prior to joining the WHU in 2014, he was Professor of International Management and Accounting at Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen (1999 - 2014) and Professor of International Management at the Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder (1995 – 1999). He has held several visiting positions, for example, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1999), St. Gallen University (2003), the London School of Economics and Political Science (2008), DePaul University, Chicago (2011), and the University of International Business & Economics, Bejing (2009, 2013).
Professor Glaum’s research interests are in the areas of international accounting and international financial management. He has published several books and numerous articles on these topics in leading international journals e.g., The Accounting Review, European Accounting Review, Accounting and Business Research, Journal of International Business Studies, Long Range Planning, European Journal of Operational Research.
He is the Chairman of the Financial Instruments Working Party at the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany. He has also been active in academic organizations, for example, as a member of the Board of Directors of the German Association of Professors of Business Administration (2004 – 2010), the Executive Committee of the International Association of Accounting Education and Research (2010 – 2014), and the Research Advisory Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (2013 – 2019).
Professor Glaum works closely with corporate practice. He has taught in corporate development programs and worked as a consultant with leading European companies, and he is the Chairman of the Working Party "Corporate Growth Strategies and International Management" of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V., which regularly brings together academics and senior executives from large international companies. He is also the co-organizer of the annual WHU Campus for Corporate Transformation event.
