Martha Agee has been a practicing attorney since 1988 and currently teaches business law in the graduate and undergraduates program at the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business. She primarily teaches the Legal Environment of Business course in the undergraduate program, and the Law of Healthcare Administration and International Business Law in the graduate program. Additionally, she teaches the legal portion of a Certified Public Accounting Review course. Mrs. Agee also conducts seminars and trainings in various areas related to business law for private companies and organizations. She has received several teaching awards:
● Outstanding Lecturer in the Hankamer School of Business in 2005
● Outstanding Lecturer of Baylor University in 2006
● Most Popular Professor in the Hankamer School of Business in 2007
● Collins Professor for Baylor University in 2007 (voted on by all senior students for their most outstanding professor during their time at Baylor.)
Prior to teaching law, she worked in private law practice and represented clients in areas including commercial and business law, employment law, bankruptcy, debtor and creditor representation, and personal injury. In addition, while employed as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Waco, she was responsible for the preparation of contracts, resolutions, ordinances, and related documents for consideration by the City Council of the City of Waco, Texas. She also provided legal assistance for various other departments of the City. Legal responsibilities included providing assistance to the purchasing department, administrative and personnel matters, economic development, adoption of the budget and setting of the tax rates; police and firefighters civil service, occupational health, Public Health District, convention center and tourism.
Before returning to Baylor University School of Law and receiving her Juris Doctorate, Mrs. Agee was a CPA for approximately ten years after passing the CPA exam on her first attempt. While employed in the field of accounting, Mrs. Agee worked in managerial accounting positions for a political subdivision of the state and a private mass merchandiser.
